The CSC is committed to providing professional education for its members. This includes participation with CSC sponsor companies in presentations about current technology and applications. As well, the CSC has developed its own highly regarded series of specialist training, such as an extensive high-level course for Camera Assistants, plus workshops for camera assistants or lighting workshops for all people in film/video production.

CSC LIGHTING WORKSHOP
This 2 day lighting workshop gives participants a comprehensive knowledge on the basics of lighting, 3 point lighting, light meters, theory etc. Participants will also learn how to create various lighting effects through practical demonstration. Joan Hutton csc, President of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, will demonstrate and discuss the designing and lighting of various scenarios which can be applied to either short or long format film-making. Although basic concepts are taught, the workshop is also intended for those who feel that they have a good knowledge of those basics and who are sufficiently qualified and wish to continue the learning process. Participants are encouraged to bring a light meter for the practical exercises.
